Tiff's life updates

hey bamma buddies,

I bumped into Linnaea at the BART station a couple weeks ago and I was reminded that I should update you guys about my life. My journalism class just published our second issue. I wasn't happy about the outcome because there were way too many mistakes. On top of that I agree with you SENIORs, college applications are a pain in the butt. I had a super duper swell Halloween though. I went to a corn maze, a haunted house, and my family decorated the house to look like magic rain forest. I'm sorry about not keeping promises about hanging out.
Reading Patty's and Jackie's blog about senior year. Let me come in as that third senior to say that senior year is super work!!! College apps are easier than what i thought it was. I applied to 7 CSU and u know one of them is SF State!!! Yeah!!! Hopefully i get into some of these colleges. The thing that stressing me out about senior year is this senior thesis project. Alot of writing and work to do just to do a project. Thats the only thing but everything else is good like my Hip Hop class and BRUH(Brothers Rising in Unity & Harmony).
But still i MISSS U GUYS!!! i remember renee saying "she said it was plastic". Jackie playing the s''na'''''p'''' g'''a'''me'''. Me and jarbari played that game one day, it was fun and funny.lol. everybody calling me grandma. playing with jessica to get jabari mad. lol "not there, here". natasha freaking out about her paper and makning wierd faces everytime i said something to her when started.lol. tiffany is so smart for a little sister. "whats up whats" everytime i passed linnaea. patty oh patty. u was chilled all the time and knew i could come to u anytime also likewise. JORGE MAYNE!!!!!! sports freak!!! cause of u i dont miss a game or watch alot of giants game. and having them long talks at night with jarbari. U a sloppy sucka. lol.
well hope we can come together again at some point cause i really kick it like old times.
PeAce & LoVe To ThE WoRlD!!!!
Live the KING OF POP MICHEAL JACKSON!!!
hehe.

Update 110309

Hi BAMMA loves ♥

Senior year is sooo overrated LOL. I'm so stressed with college apps and all of that lovely stuff. I can't wait till November is over! I heard second semester is a lot better and more chill [=

I agree with Jackie. Keep updating, I read this whenever I can haha.

So I just founded a journalism club at my school! I'm super excited about that. Yeee! I hope it's gonna be successful (fingers crossed).

It's seems like forever since I've graduated, but I still remember all the crazy memories we've had.

More later & lots & lots of love,

Patty

I miss you all.

Hi guys. It's been so stressful with school and guys and college apps. It just really seems to knock the wind outta me. It's times like these were I wish I could be back in the dorms, eating at the dining hall, and in the HUM building with you all. I truly miss all of you SO MUCH right now. I hope we get together soon, because I will seriously go bonkers if I don't see you before christmas break. (i'm leaving to china for 2 weeks, so i wont be able to chill during the break.) :(. Yea, so keep blogging guys. I try to read them when I have time, and it really does comfort me when i'm feeling down. Well, it's getting really late, so i'll talk to you later!
Lovelovelove,
Jackie

Tea is my coffee

Hey Everyone! I'm glad we're still writing in the blog! Sorry Alberto I haven't even watched a documentary not even yours in a while, but I have a growing wish list. And Jackie, I'm sending the bracelet this Monday ( I promise). My life so far has been pretty busy. Thankfully there is a three day weekend! In journalism we're currently creating our Freshmen Issue due Sept 14, 2009. Next week we're actually going to work on making our first official paper I'm excited and nervous, but thankfully I have great BAMMA knowledge and a partner! I miss the quote book and I haven't heard any brilliantly hilarious quotes since BAMMA. gee i need more humor in my life.

Dear BAMMA

I miss you guys like crazy :[. School has started for me and it is a pain in the buttocks. The people that I met at BAMMA are kinda way cooler than some of the people that I have to deal with on a daily basis.

Anyway, I'm doing cross country, so I've been sore everyday I got home from school this week. Even better... haha.

I have a question:

WHEN IS OUR REUNION?

With much love,
Patty :]

Who's actually reading this stuff?

Hey guys.
I would just like to make a point.
I MISS YOU.
Basically since BAMMA, I went to Chicago, tried to take good pictures with my fail camera, came home, and started acting camp and working nights. Yes Jessica, as a stripper.
Haha just kidding.
I work at a theater moving stuff around.
I miss waking up every morning to Eric or Dollicious banging on the door. I miss Renee and Luz being totally crazy while Patty showered. I miss nice cameras and taking billions of pics. I even kind of miss having cameras and video recorders shoved in my face EVERY FREAKING SECOND.
I'll keept this webapropriate and not go off about all the personal things I would say if we were all together right now. Which leads me to another point. I don't know if I ever told you guys this, but those two weeks were some of the happiest ever because I could trust you with everyyything. ( oh wait that's personal...)
So anyways, we should all keep in contact. AND MOSH. call me. I miss yous.
xox
Linnaea.

UGH

hey guys. so today i started my volunteer work at crissy fields. let me tell you, kids are 10 times worse than looking at the guys messy room. i swear, this one kid is KRAZY. with a capital k. cause he's krazy. anyways, as i watched the kids for 8 hours of my life, i realized how damn slow things were going. Then i thought about BAMMA's fast paced life and i was thinking to myself "GOOD LORD, CAN WE START DOING SOMETHING?" And then we walked into the media lab. and i was like "cool beans." until i found out that the "media lab" was just doing quizzes on the computer. i started bawling because I was going to die of boredom. and my feet hurt from my new converses. hoorah.
also, they gave me a camera to take photos. YAY, right?
hell to the no.
those cameras are crappier than horse crap. and thats crappy. i am tempted to just bring my own camera so i can spare myself the horror.
see you guys soon!

Ever eaten sesame cookies? I made some this week, yum...

So I'm reading all the recent blogs and I'm seriously glad I'm not the only one who misses BAmma but DUDES AND DUDETTEs, whats with all the miserable feelings! Bamma was supposed to tranform us for the better!! I'm just kidding :)

After Bamma, I spent a week in a oven New Mexico helping facilitate a training called the Youth Organizer Training Institute. How much college life do I need? After living two weeks on SF State U I spent another week with cockroaches and bad cafeteria food. The lodging at SF STate ruled though! I'm totally prepared for college at least for the part in which you eat and sleep. Where I once had trouble sleeping in new places not I can just pop in earplugs and snore away.

Anyways so one night I'm joggin on the track field with my friends and I happen to wear a jersey from the Chinese olympics. Despite my short and no way near athletic stature, some idiots mistook me for a Chinese Olympics soccer player. I'm glad they didn't ask me for an autograph, but seriously, if I wore a Giants Jersey I'm sure no one would have made that mistake. I should take their astonishment as a compliment though. How often do you see a Chinese person in New Mexico?

After New Mexico, I'm now preparing for school. With a mixture of dread, excitement and new knowledge from my reenergizing summer I should be totally ready to face SATs, College apps, AP classes, personal statements and so on... but I'm as Jackie would say: "frackin" nervous.

I miss the craziness of Bamma that was a home away from home (literally since I will still in sf) where the deepest and silliest discussions would happen simply because there was nothing better to do or worry about.

View From T's Eyes (7/15)

Question: what's better than seeing two of your favorite teams face off at the best ballpark on Earth?

Answer: Seeing it with my BAMMA folks.

That's right, it's reunion time. Me, Alberto, Jabari, Jackie, and Jorge met up at At&T to watch the Giants take on the Padres. (Naturally, I was the one in Padres gear lol.) The game was cool, but it was a great feeling to be reunited with my second family. It really brought back a wahole bunch of memories for me seeing all of them, and I'm really stoked I went.

As for the game, the Padres won 10-4 (In your face, Jackie!) and Zito got rocked. After the game, I think all the people wanted to go to the fair, but since I ran out of money, I ducked out and left. Now I regret it, but at the time I thought it was a good decision cuz I was obviously the odd man out, you know?

This is just a reminder to me that I still have a long way to go until I am truly comfortable in my own skin. I had a great time tho, and to paraphrase Q-Tip, I wouldn't trade it for nothing. Hopefully there will be another reunion...I can only pray.

Well, stay tuned.

View From T's Eyes (7/10)

Yet another post-BAMMA update: read and enjoy.

Well, I finally got my new phone! It's reall fly, I mean I've actually seen it on commercials and stuff, so I have to say that feels pretty good. Aside from that, not too much has been out of the ordinary.

I'm still as lazy as ever (only now Eric doesn't wake me up in the morn...thank god.)

I'm still trying (and failing) to freestyle.

I'm lamenting over the freshman 15 I gained from CityEats ha.

..Oh a funny story about that. I didn't think I gained that much, but yesterday I went to Santa Cruz, and there were some rides I couldn't even fit on! (Thankfully it was the one I was terrified of, but still...that sucked.)

Anyway, I digress. I've still been trying to keep in touch with all the BAMMA people, but it's harder than I thought.
-Jessica I tried talking to, but she's too busy.
-I tried to text Jorge, but he never knows my digits.
-Jabari still has no phone lol.
-Linnaea hasn't even accepted my friend request yet ha.
-I need to try to talk to Luz and Renee a lil more...
-I still don't have Jackie, Patty, Tiff, and Natasha's numbers...
-However, me and Berto are still tight.

Well, that's your update for ya. Stay tuned for the next episode.

View From T's Eyes (7/6)

It's safe to say my life has just begun...

BAMMA was like my cocoon. Before it, I was an immature kid who had no clue what he would do in life. Now, I am an aspiring young journalist, and it feels great to actually have a direction in life. I'm trying to chase that dream by applying to Youth Radio today and by keeping in touch with that mag editor I met-hopefully things pan out for me.

Anyway, the days after BAMMA have been treating me great. I chased fireworks with my mom on the Fourth (I think every single one we saw was illegal ha), I went to a birthday, and I did something I wasn't able to do in two weeks: I slept in. (Hallelujah!)

However, I feel that BAMMA has proven that I am ready to move out. Like right now. Right NOW right now. If only I was able to stay in that dorm for eternity, then I would be completely satisfied...oh well at least I'm having fun with my life.

Well, that's all I got for now. Stay strange, San Francisco =)

LAst full day.

OK I'M AN DORK FOR FORGETTING TO POST. HERE IS MY VERY LATE BLOG.

Alrighty, today we had a tour of the CBS 5 work place. Watching the action behind the scenes in the control room was astonishing. I definitely wouldn't want to work there though because the show must be precise and accurate which means a lot of anxiety involved. I'm excited to go home, but sad that the BAMMA folks are dispersing. An end is equivalent to a new beginning!

My shout outs:

Alright all editors, thanks
Broom Eric = My eco-friendly editor. I'm glad my story was assigned to you because my life as a gloomy journalist was brightened by your hilarious jokes. Never stop with your humor. I will always remember your advice: "it's for the story".

Big Bear: You truly have all the characteristics of a big bear. You're protective, cuddly and super cool. Thanks for giving me this opportunity! Oh and I appreciate your patience when I asked too many questions!

Crazy Eric: I loved watching your madness with other BAMMA kids in the newsroom. you're an awesome RA!! I hope by the time you've given birth you will no longer be in debt. Manage your finances better... thanks for letting me use your super cool paparazzi zoom lens at the pride parade.

Jennifer: Thanks for pushing me to strive for more than far away shot. i'm really glad that you "strongly encouraged" me to rush to the fire and take pics. I think that fire experience was the most memorable part of BAMMA.

Ali: Ali you're truly the multimedia guru of "BAMMA" . you never stop snapping photos and you're always ready to whip out your camera. I really hope to see the photos of BAMMA whenever Eric gets to upload them. Though I'm only 17 i have great insight so don't ever let your dad's opinion slow you down. i think you can work and go to grad school at the same time.

David: Although I had very little conversations with you, I can tell you're a super cool person. At first glance you look like a mean bully but after seeing you work with us in the newsroom I can tell that you're really nice. thanks for giving encouraging comments.

Suzi: Thanks for letting us use your car :} I have to admit that I have confused you with Jennifer multiple times, but by now I definitely know who you are.

Amanda: Blonde fairy! thanks for pushing me to be less civil and instead more assertive when it comes to asking questions. Xp I really liked learning about your life/ the challenges of being a journalist.

Alright, enough of the cheesy comments. :) I hope I can talk/ meet/see you guys in the future again either in person, on the news, through your writing or in pics.

Patty's Last Blog

Hello all. I just wanted to reiterate that I loved being a part of this wonderful program and I'm glad I had the chance to bond with everyone. This was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Let's all keep in touch :]

The (Last) View from T's Eyes (7/3)

Last blog? What? Good god this week has been moving fast as a Ferrari, and I wish I had more time to get to know everyone. I finally got around to being myself, and just my luck it happens when everything is winding down. Oh well I guess time flies when you're having fun...

In other news, we went to the CBS Newsroom today, and I gotta say it was completely amazing. The anchors were really nice to us and we even got to witness all the production behind the 12PM newscast. One of a kind; I'll never forget it.

Not only did our CBS trip show me how intricate a television station is, but it also reminded me that this may be the last time I'm gonna hang with a lot of these people. I've become so close to them, like closer than I've ever been with anyone, and I hope we will remain lifelong friends. (I'm sure we will.) It's funny, I've shared some secrets with my roommates that I've never shared with anyone else, and it's real cool to know that they got my back as much as I have theirs. They even supported me when that whole NM thing didn't work out, which meant hella much to me. Well you guys stay chill.

And to everybody else...just read my shoutouts. Ha but seriously I'll miss everyone. I feel like crying...it's that sad. Keep in touch everyone! BAMMA '09!

Thursday night, 1 day countdown!!!

It is Thursday night and we got one more day till bamma is done!!!!!! well till graduation i should say at least. today was so much better because we didn't have to spend all day here inside the work space doing slave work. we actually went to San Francisco Chronicle and sat in the editorial meeting room and got to see how they come up with the front page. it was actually fun cause it wasn't like they were acting hella professional, they were themselves. Also got a tour around the place and was different then what i actually expected. i thought it would have alot of people working crazy and working on the paper to make a deadline like they do it in the movies. Not everything is like the movies i guess. Another thing that was exciting was we got our papers printed and got feedback from a woman who is like the big times at the chronicles. Came back to bamma and had to finished my multimedia piece which i finished at 8:50. got help from ali, suzie and jenifer. thanks guys. the only reason why i finished my piece today was because i was in the room by myself after dinner so i didnt get distracted from anybody. thats the only time i got to be alone for once. But it want the right time to be alone. oh well gotta make lemonade when life gives you lemons right? listening to music hella calmed me down and focused on my work. its so much better when i am listening to music. music is where the party at. oh yeah, i was hella sick after i came back from dinner and was feeling hella bad but that didnt stop me from doing the work. hopefully i get better soon cause being sick here at bamma is not cool. got to go people are rushing me. bye!!!!!!!!

shoutouts

Hi everyone. Today may be the last day I blog, so I dedicate this post to my bamma fam.

Natasha-It's the food. And it's your humor and kindness. I'll miss all the girl talk that we talk about!

Taj-you are so open and friendly. keep being you!

Eric L- you are a freak of nature

Eric G-YOU ARE THE MAN.

Jen- i confess. i am an alien. but i still love you!

Suzy- lets eat some more philly cheese steaks! thanks for being so helpful!

Ali-You are a multimedia genius!

Zoneil- HEHE. i will beat you in a staring contest one day.

Don't know why you say goodbye I say hello.

Is this our last blog? Ever? WHAT?
Just like Taj said, visiting the S.F. Chronicle really hit home the fact that I want to be a journalist. It's really kind of intimidating, that at the age of 15, I already know what I want to do with my life. And that for the past 7, I thought I did.
Everyone's sad about leaving on Saturday, even though we know we all complained about the long hours, the rock-hard matresses, the possibly toxic dinner food, how strict people can be, we are going to miss this.
But BAMMA has opened so many doors for me, hopefully for all of us. I'm going to miss my loverlies here at BAMMA, but I've learned to push my comfort zone, to take good pictures, and found people that I'll hopefully keep in contact with until the day I die.
Anyways, thanks to all the editors for putting up with my weird faces and muttering. Ecspecially, Eric L. I've known you for a year, and I feel I kind of finally got to know you. David, thank you for suggesting La Plebe. New favorite band. Dolissa, thanks for waking us up. Zoneil, you are cool beans.

It's almost the end! Or rather a new beginning!

Aujourd'hui the BAMMA folks took a visit to the " almighty" SF Chronicle building. The Chronicle building was built in 1924 with a speakeasy. A SPEAKEASY in such a professional place! That's awesome! The best part about this building would have to be that they COMPOST!! I rarely see facilities equipped with compost but I think it's only fair that they do since they wouldn't want to face karma for the trees that they have murdered. (though it's a sacrifice that's worth the trees) Eavesdropping in on the editor meeting, Jackie and I noticed that there was only one person of color sitting around that whole table (Asian power!). So much for diversity. I'm glad that BAMMA is so diverse. I felt a bit unhappy about the critique Nanette gave to my story. Though there is always room for improvement. ;)

Thanks Editors for the hard work!

View From T's Eyes (7/2)

Well we just got back from the S.F. Chronicle, and now I know for sure that I want to be a journalist.

The vibe in there was just so focused and so relaxed that it was nearly impossible not to fall in love with it. To add, Tom Abate (a writer there) and I had a pretty cool convo; I had no idea he was an SL native too! Not to gush too much, but I feel way lucky to be here.

Also, our paper is finally printed! I'm so happy with how it came out, although my headlines are a little redundant. (Lucky I'm not nitpicky. Ha.) Anyways, I can't think of a better way to cap off my BAMMA experience than to give a shout out to everyone.

Jabari, my roommate, you're awesome man. You always know how to make me laugh at just the right time. I'm gonna miss your carefree attitude and your tagging with my shoe cleaner ha.

Jorge, I have a lot of fun talking to ya about whatever comes up. You definitely know how to keep me chill even when I was uptight like crazy. We gotta hang after we split, and good luck at SFSU.

Alberto, what more can I say? Me and you are so similar, it was difficult not to strike up a friendship. Stay being you; don't let nobody change ya. Keep in touch home slice.

Renee, my SL partner, you're goofy ha. But you know what, you keep me loose, so I'm way grateful for that.

Natasha, good luck with that speech. No pressure ha. Anyway, even though I know you don't like me the way I like you, I still think you're one of a kind and overall a great girl to be around. I'm gonna miss you a lot.

Linnaea, you're impossible to not love. You're cooler than ice and that sense of humor is killer. Keep taking those pics cuz I'm amazed at some of the shots you took...oh yeah and watch out for skateboarders ha.

Patty, even though we didn't talk too much, I still liked being around ya. Never lose your free spirit, and keep in touch aight?

Luz, keep hoopin it up and stay focused. Loved your story and loved being around ya in Berkeley. You better keep in touch since we're only a few blocks apart ha. Stay chill.

Jessica, what is there that hasn't been said about you already? Although I may have been a lil misunderstood in your eyes to begin with, I'm glad we were able to get a good friendship once my true colors started showing. Stay cool in Stockton.

Tiff, you're so intelligent and wise beyond your years. Never let up and let your dreams take you to Boston.

Jacky, thanks for your help at Westfield. You definitely know how to brighten a room with just a few words, and I'm really gonna miss that once I get across that bridge.

....I'm gonna miss everyone. I really hope y'all stay in touch with me because the comradery I've developed with you is something I'll never forget. For the first time, I feel like I have family and close friends....man It's kinda hard not to cry and get emotional lol. Well have fun BAMMA.

Getting back from the San francisco Chronicle

Ok...so we just got back from the San Francisco Chronicle. I really liked going. We got to see the masterminds that are behind such a great publication. It was cool seeing how the editors handle what is going on the front page, or in the newspaper in general.

I am happy with the final product of our BAMMA newspaper. Just looking at it is exhausting because I now know what it takes to put out a newspaper in a week. I still haven't read all the stories. All I have read are the mini bios.

CONGRATS NATASHA FOR BEING OUR SPEAKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REMEBER NO PRESSURE

Ok now for the shout outs:

Jackie- you are hilarious! H.E, H.E! We definitely created unforgettable memories. We need to create that bracelet so we can mail it to each other. I even love the funny faces you make.

Renee- "She said it was plastic! She said it was plastic!" You are just a sparky little thing. lol. hope you find timmy!

Patty- I love your middle name. Oh my gosh, me and you just clicked. I can talk to you about anything. I will carry our memories of making fun of Jabari.

Taj- Your cool. You just need to act like yourself more. Dont try so hard. You're not here to impress anybody.

Jabari- yea...it is because your black. So get over it. you're 14. lol

Linnaea- Let me say you are a savage! Your a freakin Vegetarian, that takes a freakin dedicated person to do that. I admire that. But i could never do it

Alberto- Hey grandma.(i still don't uderstand why we call you that) You are hecka chill. We just got along. i dont know what else to say.

Tiffany- You're so oblivious, but it is cute. I love how you came up with your own acronym for FKT. lol

Natasha- You're singing... it's definitely different. But Im gonna miss it once i go home. lol. We were always gossiping when we got back to our room.

Jorge- Your my brother from another mother. What else can I say. I love how you're the male version of Tiffany. You are so simple and oblivious. lol. You're happy as long as you have food in your mouth. lol

Luz- You and renee are dangerous when left together. you are one of the crack babies. you're hecka calm and quiet. I definitely need to keep in contact so we can talk more

So to everyone... Stay in touch. I love all time we spent together here in BAMMA

SF Chronicle in the Morning

Today has been eventful, but not at the same time. It was nice to go visit the SF Chronicle and I got to go on a tour with the other BAMMA people, but it wasn't a really eventful tour. I was in their morning meeting and that was quite chill and what not. I guess I expected something crazy and exciting, which I know realize was a bit of a stupid expectation because working at the SF Chronicle is a desk job once you enter the building. The fun part about journalism is going out to the "real world" and interviewing people, not sitting in front of a computer and typing (like I am doing now). It was a nice experience though because not everyone gets a tour of the SF Chronicle.

CONGRATS TO NATASHA! (Our speaker at grad!!)

We're going to an art gallery opening tonight, so we have to do everything before 4:30, so we get there in time. My multimedia is almost done because I don't really have much to work with. I had like 12 images and 10 minutes of audio which I reduced to like 1:27. It's all good though.

Shoutouts
David Debolt: My awesome editor!! I thank you for all the hard work you put in for my news story and for being patient with me. I will miss you & Juanito dearly!
Dolissa & Eric L: My RAs! Thank you for waking me up every morning (I wouldn't have woken up if you hadn't).
Eric G: Thank you for telling me about seeing San Leandro Unified School District at the Pride parade!! That totally helped me get another perspective for my article
Mary Ann:Thank you for being a wonderful teacher! Your insight was really helpful.
Suzy & Jen: I've learned so much about taking pictures! It's amazing and thank you for being so nice
Ali: Thank you for helping me with my multimedia! And everything that you've done for me!
To all the editors: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE EXPERIENCE AND FOR ALL THE TIME YOU SPENT ON PRINTING AND PERFECTING THE NEWSPAPER.
Renee: NAYNAY! Haha. My roomie. You are crazy and off the wall and it's amazing.
Luz: My girl!! You are so sweet and nice and a breathe of fresh air.
Linnaea: You are so unique that it'd be a shame if you changed.
Jackie: MY ASIAN HOMIE. Haha jk. FRACK. I think your vocabulary is rubbing off on me!
Jessica: (Gives a look) enough said :P
Natasha: HAHAHAHA. You know what I'm laughing at and I hope you know it's because I care about you... Hahahhahaha or (cackle) in your case! Your singing is horrendous, but hilarious at the same time.
Tiffany: You are sooooo different. You're quiet, but once you open your mouth, you can totally clown on someone without hesitation. I respect that!
Jabari: IT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE.... Hahahaha. You know that when I make fun of you I don't mean it! (Well hopefully you do...) You are sooo hilarious for a young'n.
Alberto: I love talking to you! You're so nice.
Taj: It was cool knowing to you.

I look at the people around me and I realize how much I will miss all of this (sigh).

July 1st. Paper to Print!

Today the pressure was on! But not for me. Though the paper should have been sent to the printing machine by 3pm, the editors finished by 8pm. Seeing them run around rushing to finish was truly inspirational. (FYI Natasha I'm not trying to kiss ass, I truly truly mean what I say) Thanks editors for working so hard.

I haven't blogged for days now so I think I ought to on such a special day! Audio editing is so tiring, I rather look at pictures all day or read the dictionary.

Go GIANTS

HEY. so today was really chill. and i got really pissed off when giants lost to the stl. 1-2. overtime. ARGH
okay everyone is leaving so im going to try to be funny

why did the girl fall off the swing?

i love the bamma folks in the old time country side

The View from T's Eyes (7/1)

Happy July, everyone!

Well, things have been going great out here. After my miraculous lows I achieved last week, it seems like things are finally turning around for me. I'm way more chill now, more than I ever was, and people are actually getting to see the real me. Not the sullen, isolationist me that I was last weekend. Not the desperate-for-attention goof that I was when I first came. No...they see me, and that feels refreshing.

Other than that, the paper is finally done. Although I got bumped all the way to page 14 (out of 16!), I'm still really impressed with my finished product. I think It's something that will make a lot of people realize how much of a problem teen unemployment is.

I also JUST finished my multimedia piece, thanks to some help by David, Jen, Jabari, and Luz. I'm grateful for all their contributions to my story, as well as to all the others who have helped and supported me. Thank you.

Now, on to other things.

In case you don't know (And if you don't know, you really must be deaf, dumb, and blind), I've been liking NM for like a week. Only problem is, she don't see me the same way. Where's Biz Markie when you need him? Oh well..at least we can stay like that, cuz she way sweet, mature yet goofy, and just someone I love spending time around.

Oh babyyyy youuu...you got what I neeee-eeed...but you say I'm jus a friend ha.

Well, time for bed. Can't wait to see the Chronicle and CBS.

-T.

AAAHHHHH so much pressure!

Shoutouts!
(I'm sorry if I don't mention you, I'm really tired and advil+me=tired)
Firstly, I would like to say that all of the people I live with are absolutely amazing and I could not do anything with out them. Patty, you are like my big sister. Luz, you are so nice and sweet and kind and put up with my sleep talking. Renee, you are hillarious, and crazier than me, which is saying something.
Moving on to the other room of girlies
Natasha, I remember the first day, when I was like, wow, we won't get along at all. How glad I am that I was wrong. Jackie, I mistake you with Patty so much because you are equally as comforting and always let me talk, and spaz dance. Tiffany, you are so smart and strong minded. think you are going to be the first female president. Jessica, you have the prettiest smile I have ever seen, and you are pretty funny to top it.
To the duders: Jorge my friend, we share a lot. I'll leave it at that. Alberto, you are a giant teddy bear. You are so nice and quiet and awsome. People who give me piggy back rides = amazing. Taj, good job finishing your first draft before anyone else! Jabari, you are funny and smarticles.
I'll shoutout to everyone else tomorrow, Jessica is making me go now so she can go back to the apartment and sleep.

It a Wednesday!

Today was another great day at BAMMA as usual. I went Berkeley skate park today, finally. It was almost like a vacation for me but I didn't get skate because I knew that i was there for business only. David told me that I wasn't getting on a skateboard two days before we went there. I was kind of bummed but it was all good in the nieghborhood. I saw that a lot of my friends were there. But it wasnt surprising at all.
Pro skater Ron Allen was at the park. I was was so hyped. Lucky for me I got to interview him. For all of those who don't know he is the first ever professional black skater. He was pretty chill. We got some laughs and he also did a "How to..." video for us. He showed us to "ollie late-front-shuvit." It was dope too. I mean I wasn't at all surprised becuase I see him at the skate ark all of the time but maybe other people are when they see the finshed version of this story.
Some of my other friends did some "How to..." videos. Noah is hekka good. But of course he going to teach us his legendary "360 Flips." Other people did some stuff too but it was too many other people to remember.

Right now they have us doing a lot. Since I wasnt here I am kind of behind on my multi-media so now I have to spend the rest of time to day working on my audio a d getting all of my videos on the computer. Tommorrow should be fun We are going to the San Fransisco Chronicle. At first when BAMMA sent us the package for the program in the mail it said that we would need to bring rpofessional clothing to wear on these feild trips...But they not tripin now because if they were at the orietation they would've mentiond it (or maybe they did), but oh well, I got my stuff anyway...Oh yea I fogot to mention that we are also going to CNN... I have no idea what to expect when going there though...

Aight then Ima stop talking......AND peace to my VANS though.... and do me a favor, call me jerk one more time...hahaha

Out peace to all the 2MB members and to my savs in the A(((((K plus the rest of the bombers....You know who yall is

WEdnesday(sorry its a really boring title)

So its wednesday and im really happy that the nespaper is finnaly finished. I think its going to be really kool to actually see the newspaper because weve all been working really really hard to get it done in time and i knwo everyone put in alot of work and effort into it. I cant wait till i can see it!! The only bad thing is that the press photos are really bad. i look so bad i wish they would put another one but oh well wat can you do whats done is done. Ummm today was fun i went with jabari and taj to the skateboard park in berkely and we filmed a whole bunch of people skateboarding. Apperantly there was a pro skatboarder there (srry jabari if im wrong) and he was really funny. When he was speaking inot the camera he was making this funny voice and saying funny things. He was also really kool with all the guys there and i think its gud that even though hes older he can still talk to oyunger people and encourage them to continue to do what they like which is skateboard. Then we interviewd ome poeple on the street for Taj. We got an interview from some girls that were from spain and a guy at a shop. Overall it was a gud day i was just really happy to ge t out of the lab because seriosly after being there for a whole day makes me go crazy! so it was nice to go outside. The sad news of today is that TIMMY HAS GONE MISSING!! we dont know what happened to him its really scary because one minute he was here with us and the next he was gone. Whoever has him please bring him back we miss him! well dats all for tonight nite!

Bum bum be-dum bum bum be-dum bum

Ah. That song is stuck in my head. Do you know what it is? Guess!

Today. What to say about today? I wasn't very productive. But it's okay! Instead, I made GREAT use of my time by bonding with my Bamma editors! They are so awesome! Eric G. made me origami art, Zoneil pulled his arm hair out for me to collect, Ali and Eric L were yelling at me to shut up..yeah it was a fun day! I listened to audio for a million hours, and I finally finished! I don't know how long it was in the beginning, but then I cut it down to 45 minutes and then Ali cuts it down to 11! Whoa! How the heck did he do that? Now I have to go through tons of picsasdf(Linnaea just did that)...anyway yes i have to go through tons of pics! And then construct to my audio in a way that makes sense. And then do my video. My brain is on overload!

But anyway, the craziest thing happened in the last three days! I saw two of my friends from my summer program last year! It was so weird.

Okay tootles!

Wednesday @ BAMMA

Hey everybody! It is 7:42 and a lot is going through my head right now however, I cannot tell you what I am thinking of because I need to use the bathroom. Ok I am back and it is 7:54 and I feel a lot better after going to the bathroom. Haha. Right now the San Francisco Giants are currently playing the St.Louis Cardinals and I cannot believe I am missing the game. Now Jackie has something to say as she is anxiously waiting to type and I am taking my time writting "6u jythrw OMG OMG DUDE 2 BALLS 2 STRIKES 2 OUTS JUST SCORE GIANTS AHFSLFSLRKGHDGDG"-Jackie. She's so sick but you know who else is sick do you really want to know who else is really cool!? NATASHA! =] "Rbhkjm"-Linnaea. Do you want to know who is really amazing..............not Linnaea but Patty! But you want to know who is the most coolest and sickest and the amazing person Linnaea! "YAAAAY. bonds. mexican punk bands and beer. WASSUP?" As Linnaea says. Honorable mentions are Jessica Lorena Sanchez homes, Taj he's pretty chill too once you get to know him. Jabari ha..haa..haaa, Alberto mayne!, Tiffany so quiet but really funny when she talks, Renee we need to find Timothy!!!, and of course Light ;). The staff have to thank them of course and for working hard today and making the final copies for the Golden Gate [x]press. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! the Giants just lost. Shooout. Oh well I got to get back to work so tommorrow I can chill out and relax instead of rushing my work and stressing out. "I HATE THE CARDINALS AHRHWHSDFHSFGJ OMG I CANT SAY ANYTHING BECAUSE I WILL GET KICKED OUT IF I DO BUT ARGHHH DAMN THE STL!!"-Jackie To end in a happy note today wasn't the best day but at least I got to hang out with the BAMMA Fam. I am going to miss everyone but I'll keep in touch.

Make sure you tune in on the countdown!!!
Loves Everybody!!!!!!

Wednesday

Wow! Already wednesday. I can't believe BAMMA is almost over. Honestly what sucks for me is that I live the farthest out of all the people here. I most likely only going to keep contact by phone or email.

But anyways I am going to get back to what we're doing currently. We started off our day with proofing each others stories. YAY! nothing excites me more than starting off my day more than correcting papers.

Then we worked on our multimedia. I was scared of working on my multimedia because I didn't think I had anything useful. In the beginning Suzy had came up with a cool idea of talking more in depth with one of the people that I had interviewed and create a slide show with her dog's pictures. Then Suzy's other idea was to possibly document her dog getting its cast off. But the lady said no. It wasn't that bad. I created stills ( is that right?). The product wasn't half bad.

I am interested in applying for youth radio. I love that give free classes in anything your interested in doing. I want to expose myself to broadcast journalism. Like my peers have heard me say before I see myself pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism and working at ESPN. I figure why not try to start at youth radio. But, I don't think I'll be accepted because I live in Stockton and the program takes place in Oakland. So I wonder if they're going to take that into account. i might apply anyway because it won't hurt to try. What is the worst that could happen.

So yeah that was my day.

Last Wednesday at BAMMA (Patty)

BAMMA has been a crazy experience and I wouldn't change anything or go through this with anyone else for the world. I've learned so much about journalism and my own limitations and capabilities. I've never been away from home for such an extended period of time without my family and I'd like to think that I've grown from this. I've learned that I need to be more aggressive when talking to strangers or I won't get my story!

All day, I've edited my multimedia and I have a headache from it (lovely right?) and the best part is that I'm still not done. It has been quite a stressful day for writers and editors alike. It's so weird to think that all the hard work we've been doing for the past week has finally paid off. Everything that we've done (for the newspaper) is coming to a close. I'm happy that it's over, but saddened at the thought at the same time. I'm happy that everything I did paid off, but I'm sad because it marks the end of a really amazing adventure.

I lived through life thinking that such an experience would never happen to me and now that it has happened I feel like anybody can do anything that they put their mind to. Just because I have to travel a great distance or I have to deal with my own inexperience (and those of others) doesn't mean that something beautiful and memorable can't emerge from it. I'm so glad that I applied for this program and I've met all the people that I've met no matter how many times we butt heads and crack cruel jokes towards one another. The good memories have definitely outweighed and outnumbered the number of the bad memories.

JUST DO IT :]!

NAYE NAYE--->HECKA DAYS LATER @BAMMA...

SINCE THE LAST TIME I BLOGGED, LINNAEA AND I WENT TO SEE LA PLEBE AT THE GILMAN IN BERKLEY.BEFORE WE SAW THE CONCERT, WE GOT LOST AND ENDED AT UP AT A SKATE PARK. WE TOOK AMAZING PICTURES AND VIDEOS OF THE SKATERS.WE THEN ATE TACOS AND BURRITOS. IT TASTED GOOD. LATER, WE SAW A BAND WHO I DO NOT KNOW THE NAME OF BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT VERY IMPORTANT. ONE OF THE MEMBERS LOOKED LIKE FOURTY YEAR OLD FATHER AND THE REST LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE FROM THE 50'S. YEA...THEN WE SAW LA PLEBE. THEY WERE AMAZING! I WAS AFRAID OF THE MOSHING. OKAY, THE NEXT DAY WE WENT TO A MUSEUM BASED ON THE CHINESE CULTURE. IT WAS COOL.THEN WE WENT ON THE BAY CRUISE. IT WAS ALSO COOL. OKAY, TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH, I'M SOO TIRED! SO I GOING TO JUST FINISH THIS BLOG UP RIGHT NOW.OKAY, BYE. -_-

Oh happy day.

Hahaha...That was what I was doing the entire day today. Laughing. Cackling. Giggling. Mwahaha! I have no idea why. I am just full of joy:) Okay I am reserving this spot for JACKIE. HEY THIS IS JACKIE AND IM FRACKING KOOL WITH A K. bye. <----she's so funny...
Okay. Thanks Jackie. So I finished my story! Yay!!! I went from like 1, 200 words down to 513. Oh yeah baby! I still cannot believe that I am a journalist. O-MI- GAWD. Yup. I am super proud of myself. Super proud. Basically that was the highlight of the day. Right now I'm editing my audio. Ew. It's boring and I get distracted WAY too easily.

Okay well that's all I have to say. Till next time.
Bye!

P.S. I only have one love. Initials: VFC. If you know what I'm talking about, I'll give you a prize!

FINISHED STORY!

I FINALLY FINISHED MY STORY YAYYYYYYY! IM SO HAPPY! I was kind of frustrated because i finally got another interview but i had to put that into my story but i didnt know how so my stories organization was pretty whack but as i worked on it more it started to get better. Then when i was finally done i had 950 sumthing words, then 778, then 637, then 560, then 538 and finnaly 507 WORDS! I had to make so may drafts i felt SO BAD because when you really think about it i killed alot of trees so i feel bad but im still hecka juiced that i finished my story. Now im doing my multimedia. Im really excited to do the multimedia because i really like doing things that involve film and editing (random note) but before i wanted to be a journalist i wanted to be a film maker because i thought making films was really kool. So im excited for that except i dont have alot of pictures or film so i hope everything turns out well. Yea so im tired now so im going to finish this blog so we can all go back to the dorms to rest. Well yea nite! :)

Tuesday @ BAMMA

What it do mayne! Lately I been writing semi-formal blogs but I've been doing so much work lately that I am just going to write whatever is on my mind. I'm not going to write down a sentence read it in my head, look at it again and read it out loud to see if it sounds good. Thats basicly what I have been doing these last couple of days while writting my first report ever! I am shure in the future I will continue to write many more. It's been fun being able to write about something that I enjoy talking about. SPORTS!!! I'm so glad the San Francisco Giants are doing so well also. Go Giants! Oh and the Warriors mayne the Warriors mayne got Stephen Curry "With the seveth pick of the 2009NBA Draft." As NBA's commissionar David Stern said. What I am trying to say basicly that this past week and a half has been amazing. I cannot believe how much I have been through in such a small amount of time. Go Bama!(*BAMMA) hahaha. I love the staff, students and enviromnent I am in. I hope that this fall in school at SFState the same will continue to happen.
-Jorge Iniguez

Done with my story!

So i am finally done with my story. All the rejection from people I had to attempt to interview is over.

I can't believe BAMMA is almost over. it has passed by so fast. Honestly this program has confirmed how much I want to pursue journalism. I like how this program has forced us to get out of our comfort zones and be more aggressive about stories we're doing.

I did not think it was going to be this much hard work, but so much fun. I really enjoyed going to the pride parade this weekend and going on the bay cruise. It was a snippet of down time in the middle of all of last weeks madness.

Now all I have to worry about now is working on my multimedia. I have about 12 minutes of audio from the SPCA interview, but no video.

Getting Better or Worse?

Wow what a trip it has been here so far at Bamma. It is already Tuesday night writing this blog and have 3 more days till we all (hopefully) graduate and head off to the rest of the summer. I hella want to hang out with some of the people I have met here cause they're super cool!!! Even though there has been some crazy stuff and was messed up in the moments, but as usual I always have my boys picking me up when I fall to the fall floor on my face badly. but the boys ain't the only ones who has helped me, got to give big ups to the girls who kept bugging me when I wanted to be alone at dinner. Gosssssh!!! can't never get some time alone, lol. Surrounded by loved ones(well most off them), can't escape from them just cause I'm tapped in. It has gotten better in some ways but there are some things that has not. No matter how hard I try to stay away from my other side, it takes over like venom. As always though, whens there a problem, there is always a solution. In the middle of being happy and sad about Bamma. Happy cause I get to go back home to Oakland where I belong and stay at. Sad because I'm going to miss the experience with all my Bamma Familia and what we have been through like the good, the best, most funny, charitable memories, and being close to each other. but always family comes together. love everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wish the best for all of us here at Bamma and keep this thang goin'!!!!!!!!!!!lol

i'm a kool kat. with a k. cause im kool.

Today was a good day. Very, very good.
I went to ISA today to get some interviews on the kids. Apparently, these were juvenile kids, but to be honest, they were nicer than the kids that I interviewed at the mall a couple of days ago. Oh yeah, and some of the people at the mall were good looking. Eheheh. Anyways, i couldn't interview that many kids because only a few students went to get lunch. 3 asian kids. then the other kids. I only keep track because my asian senses tingle when a see a fellow cult member.

I really have nothing to talk about today. Other than my interview, i ate a delicious philly cheese steak NOMNOMNOM. we went to phat philly's. phat as in pretty hot and tempting. sorta like me. hehe.

kbye

I'm a tomato.

Hello skin cancer.
I look like a freaking tomato right now.
*Note to self: take sunscreen EVERYWHERE. Even when you sprint out of the newsroom, grab some pizza, jump into David Debolt's crap-mobile with Eric G, who is, for the record, the funniest man on the planet.
Anyways, we went to a protest in the Bay View district for Tiff's article about the Lenar corp. building condos there and polluting our planet with their evil conspiracy. The protest really really really pushed the "civil" part of civil disobedience. They blocked the road, and a few people coming from some art studio on the water drove up, so they let them past. THAT'S NOT WHAT PROTESTS ARE ABOUT! Then, the police came, and the freaking organizers allowed themselves to be unchained from the sign. I wanted to see some yelling! One guy was detained for one minute. Media circus, like Eric said.

Also I wanted to say a humungous THANK YOU to every person at BAMMA for making my birthday magical yesterday. It's hard to imagine that come Saturday, we won't be together anymore. Sad face.

Back to today's events, I really am getting sick of people who pose for photos. I get that you held the protest to get the word out, but please please please please pretend like you are actually doing something.

Also, two things I learned from Eric G.
1.It's probably not a good idea to microwave other people's toothbrushes
and
2.David Debolt's windshield is cracked because *someone* got a massive erection from looking at him, so big it cracked the windshield.

I FINISHED MY STORY
I CAPTIONED THE PHOTOS FOR MY STORY
I EDITED THE AUDIO FOR MY MULTI MEDIA
I GOT REALLY SUNBURNED
THERE WAS ACTUALLY GOOD FOOD AT THE CAFETERIA TONIGHT.

Holy crap sweet Buddah this is a beautiful thing. Except for the fact that I'm going to die of skin cancer by the age of like 30.

063009 (Patty)

I'M DONE WITH MY NEWS ARTICLE!!
Now to start on the MultiMedia. I basically don't have anything except a few audio clips and a couple of pictures. Hopefully, I'll be able to get more "man on the street" stuff tomorrow!

I started my morning by chugging a coffee. I use to absolutely HATE coffee. Now I just add a ton of creamer & sugar when I drink it to dilute the harsh taste of the coffee. I hope I don't get addicted... (Shrugs)

Today I went to a protest with Linnaea, Tiffany, Erik G and Jen. The protest was really weak because the protesters cooperated with the police 100%. Civil disobedience at its' weakest. I'm glad I went though because I didn't want to be in front of the computer for 10 hours like I did the day before. I basically begged Eric G to take me with him. I couldn't take editing my news article anymore!

Tuesday...The shiiz

Today I finally got a draft done for my story. We are getting closer and closer to the end of the whole BAMMA program. It feels like its going too fast. I think that i need more time to bond with my peers that I have meet here at BAMMA. But this week has been pretty chill so far...I know, I know, its only Tuesday. But I have a feeling that it is going to be a good week. hahaha..I just got these new shoes and they feel like a good snug. I think that others might try to wear them but they are VANS that are custom fit for me. I always have to sport VANS becuase they are my type of shoes. They are hella comfortable. And even when it feels like Ima land too hard when I'm skating, the super soft insoles are always there to absorb the impact. And these VANS are hela clean too. Im almost sure that everybody would want to sport these. In this scenario you actually have to judge these shoes by the outer sole because they feel as good as they look. I always feel comfortable wearing them no matter what. But sometime I feel like they are too big or too small for me but in the end I have to realize that the shoes are not the one that have to FIT me, but its me that has to be able to FIT them. Because after all there is nothing wrong with them, its still just me pushing so hard to skate past the BS.
And in my eyes I think that they are the darn best multi-purpose shoes ever.
But...I have had previous shoes in the past but now I'm thinking that those are SO last months edition.....This is for those who know who I'm talkin about. And for da haters, get off...or else I'm making you get off because you is in mah way... I got to get my grind on...Ya feel me

I'm out and Ima keep sportin dem...
