The highlight of Friday equates to my confusion of the words "striper" with a "stripper." It all started when Broom Editor Eric strolled into the room with a very eye-catching red and white striped shirt. At a glance I was reminded of a candy striper's apron. When I told him though I stated, " Eric you look like a candy stripper." The rest of that conversation was a whirlwind because all I could think of was why would any hospital volunteer be called a stripper. Isn't it bad enough already that candy stripers have to wear an apron that makes them look like poster models of old-fashioned food brands (i.e. See's candy), but now they have to be associated with the a stripper! To confirm my disbelief, Jackie and I googled "candy stripper" and realized that the word had only one letter "P" so therefore it does not have such a derogatory connotation. The Best and the Worst about being at BAMMA is that I say and do the weirdest things in my life.
Going back to my writing. I think that there is so much information that I am having trouble condensing and only focusing on part of the issue. I hope that I will write a appealing article because I think that the issue is super duper important! I have to think about the story and remain neutral! That is so hard !
Oh and a lesson from Ali. Never accept any token from a protestor when you're on a reporting job. If you do then you are basically taking someone's side and not being a objective journalist.
