Today I went to SF with David and Suzy and Luz and Jessica. It was a really amazing experience. As we were walking to the pet clinic for Jessica's interview, we saw a people with handcuffs and police officers surrounded by a group of individuals. I took pictures while Luz took a video and Jessica was taking notes. Jessica tried to asked the police officers for information, but they did not encourage further conversation with them. Later, the people who were arrested were released (we are not sure why). It was a good lesson on being persistent and aggressive and we learned to not pay attention to people who didn't know what they were talking about. Even though, I did not personally interview anyone I helped Luz interview a veterinarian at a pet clinic (?). I am not sure if that's what it was called or not. I made a video of her interview with him while Luz took photos. Later David and Luz and I went to a pregnant teen center while Jessica and Suzy went back to the pet clinic and recorded some audio. It didn't work out at the pregnant teen center because it was closed. We all walked a very far distance and took the Muni back to SFSU.
We all learned something today that will help us later when we interview others. I was really happy today because people that I called answered their phones or called me back. I, personally, learned how to take better pictures. I was just messing around and trying to figure out what aperture I should use in certain different locations with different lightings.
I changed the story for my news article; instead of doing just a story about gay teens and how their lives have changed since they left, I'm focusing on the Caring Schools Community Curriculum and the people's reaction and opinions about it. I learned a lot about this by reading other articles and going to Mike McMahon's website. I'm looking forward to interviewing some people tomorrow and seeing what people think about this.
